Objectives
- To recognize elements of the Layers palette
- Enables us to identify and explain 5 different types of layers
- To merge and flatten layers
- To apply layer style onto layers
Layers
- Functions:
- Create composite images
- Create complex projects
- Correct color
- Add special effects
- Repair photos
- Can be controlled by:
- Changing opacity
- Changing stacking order
- Changing blending modes
- Merging, combining two or more layers into one.
Layer Palette contains:
- Blending mode
- Lock: Transparency, pixels, position
- Layer visibility
- Link layers
- Layer opacity
- Text layer
- Layer effects
- Layer mask
- New: Layer set
- Delete layer
- Adjustment layer
Using layers, disabling the visibility of whole content in a layer.
Type of Layers
- Normal layers: adding a new layer on top of the current layer
- Adjustment layers: to modify an image without affecting the original pixels
- Layer masks: protect areas of a layer
- Shape layers: contain vector shapes
- Type layer: contain texts
Merge and Flatten Layers
- Merging: combining two or more layers
- Flattening: combine all layers in order to minimize the file size
- Connect layers by linking them
- Linked layers became one unit where they move together as one
